Introduction To IoT
The Internet of things is a system of correspondent, internet-connected objects that can collect and transmit data over a wireless network without human interruption. The term "Internet of Things" is given by Kelvin Ashton in 1999.
What is the Internet Of Things?
The internet of things or IoT is influencing our lifestyle from the way we react to the way we behave. From air conditioners that we can control with our smartphone to smart cars providing the shortest route or our smartwatch which is tracking our daily activities.

- IoT is a big network with connected devices these devices collect and transmit data about how they are used and the environment in which they are operated. It's all done using sensors, sensors are embedded in every physical device. It can be our mobile, electrical appliances, Pecos barcode sensors traffic light, and almost everything that you can come across in day-to-day life.

- IoT devices collect data and send it through the internet for processing.

Example of an Internet of Things device
We all know that any physical device can be transformed into an IoT device if it can be connected to the internet to be controlled or communicate information.
Let's take the example of a lightbulb that could be switched on using a smartphone app is an IoT device, as is a motion sensor or a smart thermostat in your office or a connected streetlight. An IoT device can be like a child’s toy or serious like a driverless truck. Larger components of IoT devices may be filled with much smaller IoT components, for example, a jet engine that’s now filled with thousands of sensors collecting and transmitting data back to make sure it is operating systematically. A smartwatch and a fitness band or any other wearable device might be considered as an IoT device.
History of the Internet of Things
Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, the idea of adding sensors and intelligence to basic objects was discussed. At that time chips were too big and bulky so that there was no way for objects to communicate effectively. Processors were cheap, power-frugal, and disposable.“The IoT integrates the interconnectedness of human culture- our ‘things’- with the interconnectedness of our digital information system- ‘the internet.’ That’s the IoT,” Ashton told ZDNet.
Initially, IoT was most interesting to business and manufacturing, and sometimes there its application is known as machine-to-machine (M2M). nowadays emphasis is filling our homes and offices with smart devices and transforms it into beautiful and relevant to almost everyone.

Bypassing time it is getting big and bigger. we all know that there are already more connected things than people in the world.
By 2025, in total there will be 41.6 billion connected IoT devices, predicted by Tech analyst company IDC. It is suggested by the Internet of Things that the industrial and automotive equipment represents the largest opportunity of connected things. And it also sees the strong adoption of smart home and wearable devices in the near term.
Garter, another tech analyst, has predicted that the enterprise and automotive sectors will account for 5.8 billion devices this year.

A promise has been made by the Internet of Things to make our environment, our homes, offices, and vehicles, smarter and more measurable and chattier also. Amazon’s Echo and Google home are smart speakers, they make it easier to play music, set timers, or get information.

makes our lives safer, healthier, or more efficient.

innovative companies and countless others.

contribution of the Internet of Things in the medical field is amazing. Some of the
medical devices of the Internet of things are Air quality sensors, sleep monitor,
medical data transferring tools, drug effectiveness tracking, and many more.
